Wood is the foundational construction material for early empire development. Every basic building requires wood, ships need timber for hulls, and siege weapons depend on wooden frames. Foresters produce 10 Wood per tick, while Forest terrain provides +40% production bonus. Wood can be converted to Coal in the Foundry, making it a precursor to advanced material chains. Dwarves suffer -5% wood penalty while Elves gain +30% bonus. Desert terrain is devastating for wood production (-50%).
